The story
How Love Saved My Father is an intimate short documentary told through the voice of Eliza as she reflects on how her parents met and fell in love in Britain during and after the Second World War. Through personal memories, family photographs, and reflective storytelling, the film explores love, fate, survival, and the fragile chain of events that shaped generations to come.
At the heart of the story is the extraordinary fact that Eliza’s father narrowly escaped death twice — first through a twist of timing during the war, and later through the life and family he chose to build. Blending oral history with documentary storytelling, the film captures the warmth, humour, uncertainty, and resilience of post-war life while reflecting on the moments that quietly alter the course of a family forever.
